Why Scottish homes are adding a battery

Electricity costs most exactly when you use the most. A battery lets you buy it at a different time.

Questions

Home batteries, answered

Something else? or call 0141 473 2886.

Can I get a battery without solar panels?

Yes. With a suitable off-peak tariff, the battery charges overnight at the cheaper rate and powers your home through the day and evening. We check your tariff first.

How much does a home battery cost?

Most Duracell Energy battery installs come to around £5,000 to £6,000. The final price depends on how many modules you need and your set-up. Send us a recent bill and we can usually quote the same day.

Is there VAT on home batteries?

Battery and solar installs are at 0% VAT until 31 March 2027, then 5%.

How long does installation take?

Usually two to three hours on site, by our own Glasgow-based team.

What size battery do I need?

Most family homes suit two modules (10.24 kWh). Smaller homes may only need one; homes with electric heating, an EV or a large solar array may need three. We size it from your actual usage.

Which tariff should I use with a battery?

A tariff with a cheaper overnight or off-peak rate gets the most from a battery. We look at your current tariff during the quote and explain your options.

Will a battery keep my power on in a power cut?

It can, with the right inverter and wiring. Backup isn't automatic on every set-up, so we confirm what is possible for your home at survey.

Where does the battery go?

Each module is slim (90 mm deep) and wall-mounted, usually in a garage, utility room or cupboard. We agree the best spot with you.

Does a battery work with infrared heating?

Yes. Store cheaper or solar power in the battery and use it to run your infrared panels in the evening, heating only the rooms you are using.

Do you cover my area?

We install across mainland Scotland from our Glasgow base. See the areas we cover.
