Questions
Solar and battery, answered
Something else? or call 0141 473 2886.
How much do solar panels and a battery cost?
Fixed packages start from £10,995, from 8 to 24 panels, with MCS certified installation. Your price depends on roof size, panel count and battery size.
Is there VAT on solar panels?
Solar and battery installs are at 0% VAT until 31 March 2027, then 5%.
Does solar work in Scotland?
Yes. Panels generate from daylight, not just direct sun, and long Scottish summer days help. A battery stores what you make for the evening.
How long does a solar install take?
Usually one day on site. If your network operator needs a G99 application, allow up to 90 days for approval.
Do I need planning permission?
Most home roof installs are permitted development. Listed buildings and conservation areas can differ, and we check this for you.
Can solar run my infrared heating?
Yes. Your battery stores surplus solar power during the day, and that stored power can run your infrared heating after sunset.
Can I add a battery to existing solar?
Usually, yes. See our battery storage page or ask us to check your current system.
Will I get paid for exported electricity?
You can apply for a Smart Export Guarantee tariff with an energy supplier to be paid for power you send to the grid.
Is scaffolding included?
We confirm everything that is included, scaffolding and access, in your fixed quote.
Do you cover my area?
We install across mainland Scotland from our Glasgow base. See the areas we cover.
